Your marketing strategy must incorporate a strong online presence in order to stand among the competition.<\/p>\n<p>You know that how you build and maintain your website directly correlates to your placement in a Google search, but do you happen to know what all those different sections on the actual search page mean\u2026 and what you can do to appear in any\/all of those sections?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<p>We all know how important it is to land on the first page of Google&#8217;s search results. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/thrivehive.com\/how-to-get-your-new-business-on-the-first-page-of-google\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Thrivehive.com<\/a>, 91% of people do not click past the first page on Google. So, when considering you have up to 18 available spots to appear on that search results page, you want to make sure you capitalize on that.<\/p>\n<p>You can think of digital shelf space on Google like you would shelf space in a grocery store. For instance, say you have a select number of beers you are selling in the grocery store. You\u2019ll pay the distributors a slotting fee to organize that product on your shelf and make sure your product is up front. The more it\u2019s upfront and easily accessible to the customer, the more likely they are to pick your product, right? It\u2019s no different for digital shelf space and your website.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking to get more patients to your practice and need to get shelf space, you might want to jump back to one of our early articles, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tntdental.com\/blog\/how-to-get-more-new-dental-patients\/?utm_source=shelf_space_blog\">How to Generate More New Patients for your Dental Practice<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<p>Just remember, you can attract new patients through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Increasing your online visibility<\/strong> \u2013 polish those social media business pages and get your website up-to-date;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Referrals <\/strong> \u2013 get good referrals from your existing patients;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Organic Search <\/strong> \u2013 you want to be listed on page one of the search results;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Paid Marketing \u2013 <\/strong> if you utilize Google Ads, you can make sure your website appears on the top page of those search results;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Insurance Searches <\/strong> \u2013 make sure you are \u201cfound\u201d in insurance searches, for both in-network and out-of-network;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community Activities <\/strong> \u2013 show your expertise on all things dental by giving presentations or providing dental health screenings to community organizations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<h2>Dividing Up Shelf Space<\/h2>\n<p>As you can imagine, just like the beer aisle, the more listings you have on a Google search results page, the more likely you are to get a click. Although you have 18 total listings on a page, you can divide the Google search results into three main sections:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">1) Paid Ads<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1103 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tntdental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/best-google-ads-for-dentists-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Best Google Ads for Dentists\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tntdental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/best-google-ads-for-dentists-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tntdental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/best-google-ads-for-dentists.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>There are up to four spots available at the top of the page dedicated to paid advertisements. <strong>On average, 20 out of 100 people will click on those ads<\/strong>. The tradeoff? You can expect to shell out $1,000-$1,500 a month to claim one of those spots and list it effectively.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">2) Map Pack (Local) Listings<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1098\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tntdental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/local-map-results-seo-for-dentists-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Best Local SEO Results for Dentists\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tntdental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/local-map-results-seo-for-dentists-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tntdental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/local-map-results-seo-for-dentists.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The most coveted spot, this is considered the \u201cHoly Grail\u201d of the page. <strong>About 40 out of 100 people will click on these listings<\/strong>. The first item on the map is a paid ad.<\/p>\n<p>Google added a fourth listing to this section because it\u2019s deemed such valuable real estate as a sold ad. There\u2019s typically a higher emphasis on geography; hence, why this area is seen as prime real estate on the search results page.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">3) Organic Listings<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1099\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tntdental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/best-organic-seo-for-dentists-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Best Organic SEO for Dentists\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tntdental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/best-organic-seo-for-dentists-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tntdental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/best-organic-seo-for-dentists.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The remaining 10 spots on the page are dedicated to organic search listings. <strong>40 out of 100 people will click these listings, as well<\/strong>. How you\u2019re found is based on the pages of your site, reviews of your practice and the matched search terms.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget, all of these factors are driven by the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quality of website<\/li>\n<li>Reviews<\/li>\n<li>Social media activity<\/li>\n<li>Geography<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<h2>Maximizing Your Visibility and Clicks<\/h2>\n<p>Research shows if you have a listing in all three sections, you\u2019ll get a 30% boost in all activity and clicks to your site. If you build out an effective content strategy and contribute multiple pages of your site to discussing the different facets of dental implants, your site and its pages can appear several times in the organic listings.<\/p>\n<p>Or, if you offer a specific service in a non-competitive market\u00a0\u2014 maybe sleep apnea therapy\u00a0\u2014 make sure your content matches accordingly in order to bump up the number of listings in that organic section.
